Coming off a 3-0 quarterfinal thumping of St. Louis Park, the boys move into the 6AA semi-finals against top-seeded Wayzata. The Millers play the Trojans at 3:00pm, October 17, at Wayzata High School.

From the Match Preview

The Millers are now 9-4-3 overall for regular and post-season play, defeating fifth-seeded 6AA rival St. Louis Park in the opening quarterfinal sectional match.  Top-seeded in 6AA, Wayzata is now 10-4-3 and defeated Robbinsdale Armstrong 5-0 in its sectional playoff opener. Wayzata has ben ranked as high as 6th in the state coaches poll this season but dropped to 8th in the last poll taken before the playoffs. Washburn plays in the Minneapolis City Conference, while Wayzata is in the Metro West Conference along with Robbinsdale Cooper and Hopkins, among others. Washburn is 2-1 this season against teams Wayzata has also faced (St. Louis Park, South, and Hopkins), while Wayzata is 2-1-1, tying St. Louis Park, losing to Minneapolis South 1-2, and defeating Hopkins twice. Wayzata’s only other losses have been against AA top-ranked Minnetonka, losing two matches 1-3 and 3-4.
