Plenty of things are happening and in the planning stages for next season, including preliminary schedules, summer programs, and important booster and soccer program dates. Here’s what parents and players need to know now.
Save the Dates
With preliminary match schedules nearly complete for 2017, here are some of the important dates to save now:
Captain’s Practice (optional): August 7-11 at Washburn Stadium
Tryouts: August 14-18 (initial check-in on Monday at Washburn Stadium)
Kick-Off Picnic: TBD but likely August 22
First matches: August 24 vs. Edina
First Day of School: August 28
Super Soccer Saturday: September 16 vs. Holy Angels
Senior Recognition: September 28 at Washburn Stadium (vs. South)
Sylvester Cup: October 5 vs. Southwest
We also need parent volunteers for many of the booster events. All parents are welcome, including incoming parents of freshmen. Please contact us for more information or to let us know that you are interested in getting more involved.
Free YMCA Youth Memberships
The local YMCA is offering free youth memberships for the summer. Coach Percy recommends that all players take advantage of this offer, which will allow players to work out at the YMCA over the summer (Washburn’s weight room will be closed over the summer). Forms are available in Coach Percy’s classroom, and an orientation for the soccer program will be on June 7. But, sign up before May 31.
Washburn Soccer Gear
An early-bird online soccer store is now open to allow players (and parents) to order Washburn soccer gear before the end of this school year. Because gear is delivered to school and distributed to players from there, the deadline to order is May 29. Coach Percy is also recommending that returning players order the blue and white “locker tee” short-sleeve shirts, pictured here. The link to the online store is here.
