Congratulations to those making one of the five Washburn boys soccer teams.

Even with a new fifth team, it was another year of very competitive tryouts for a limited number of roster spots. We owe a huge round of thanks to the coaches and evaluators, who worked hard to make very difficult decisions.

Next Steps

If you made a team, please take a few additional necessary steps to get ready for the upcoming 2016 season, which starts Saturday, August 27, 2016, with varsity, junior varsity, B squad, and 9A squad matches against Anoka. The new 9B team will be in earlier action on August 25 at Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

  1. Look for an email invitation soon from TeamSnap, the application we use to keep players and parents informed about games and other boys soccer program events. Please respond to that email invite and fill out your contact information on TeamSnap, including listing a cell phone number where you can receive text messages. You will also likely receive an email from your coach to discuss upcoming practices and games, as well as any other details about the season and expectations.
  2. Generally, all teams will start practicing on Monday, August 22, with varsity practicing at Washburn stadium in the morning and the rest of the teams at Pearl Park in the afternoon. Stay tuned for an initial practice schedule from coaches, which will be posted on TeamSnap for each team.
  3. Attend the annual Kickoff Picnic (and our first alumni-varsity match) on Thursday, August 25, 2016, 6:30pm at Washburn stadium. The picnic is mandatory for players and for at least one parent/guardian (though all parents and supporters are invited and encouraged to attend). More details about the Kickoff Picnic and our first alumni-varsity match are here.
  4. Order Washburn Soccer gear. The Adidas gear online store will be open until August 21 for players who did not already order Washburn soccer gear (or need to order additional gear). Check out our earlier post about the online store here. Note: gear ordered now may not be available until around mid-season.

You can find team pages here, each of which includes a game schedule. Team pages will soon be populated with each of the team rosters. Once we know jersey numbers and positions, we will also add those to each team’s roster list. If you are a parent and know already that you’d like to be a team parent, please let us know.

Again, congratulations! See you on the field.
